Great Moments In Film – Gilda (1946)

The definition of what it means to be “sexy” has changed as the decades went along. There was a time when there didn’t need to be much skin showing for a moment to be considered steamy. Consider this one from 1940s. This is Gilda’s, played by the absolutely beautiful Rita Hayworth, first appearance and it is smoldering. Listen to her verbal jabs; watch her facial expressions as she toys with Johnny. There’s very few things hotter in this world than a confident woman…and it helps that it’s Rita Hayworth playing the part, of course.

As Morgan Freeman so eloquently put it in The Shawshank Redemption, “This is the part I really like, when she does that shit with her hair.” Indeed, Mr. Freeman, indeed.

  1. Rita Hayworth is a Goddess for all-times! And Gilda is a hell of a noir masterpiece – except the ending.
