Great Moments In Film – My Cousin Vinny (1992)
My Cousin Vinny is a largely forgotten about comedy starring Joe Pesci a the titular Vinny and Marisa Tomei as his fiance Mona in a role that won her an Oscar. No, really. In it, Vinny’s cousin (along with his best friend) are charged with a murder they didn’t commit while traveling through Alabama and it’s up to the very inexperienced (which is a nice way to say, “he doesn’t know what he’s doing”) Vinny to defend them. Did I mention it took Vinny SIX times to pass the bar exam?
While there are rumors that Tomei only won her best supporting actress Oscar due to presenter Jack Palance’s eye-sight, I don’t buy it for a moment. She is an absolute riot in this movie and more (if they’re worthy) comedies should be nominated and should have an actual chance to win. That’s a discussion for another day, however.
In this scene, Vinny comes back to hotel room (one of the many they stay out for various reasons) saying he’s going to go hunting with the prosecutor of the case. Mona does not approve at all and she lets it be known very clearly. Joe Pesci’s face is priceless as he hears her argument about the matter.
