As very few of you will notice, this blog is getting a fresh start and a new direction. Before I would write about anything and everything. This was fun for a little while, but also made it tough to focus on things. For example, I was researching four subjects to write about (all about different things) when I stopped posting on here.
So, where do I go from here? I decided to look at what I was mostly writing about and what I saw was simple: I talked about movies the most. Movies are something I can talk about every day for the rest of my life. I keep searching for new ones to watch, especially old classics that I’ve somehow missed out on (TCM is a godsend for this sort of thing).
What will this blog cover exactly? I will do reviews of movies, be it movies I’ve just seen in the theatre, on DVD, or on TV. I will talk about franchises as a whole. I will have personal top ten lists. I’ll do “classic” movie posts as well as some not-so-classic movie posts. I’ll discuss movies that are coming out that I’m excited for. I’ll do the occasional write-up on movie news (most likely casting/directing decisions). I’ll even have fantasy casting lists for the many remakes/adaptions/etc being made in Hollywood nowadays. It should be a good time.
However, I do need to mention that I do rate movies according to what they’re trying to be. So if I give, say, Iron Man the same grade as something like Frost/Nixon, it’s not that I actually believe they’re of equal quality. Obviously, Frost/Nixon is a better movie, it was nominated for an Academy Award for a reason. But something like Iron Man was just as ENJOYABLE to me for different reasons. Both good, enjoyable movies, but for different reasons. One is a big budget, fun popcorn movie, whereas the other is an award type movie. I will try to mention this sort of thing in all the reviews I do.
A little bit about me to close out. My name is Chris Lejarzar and I’m 28 years old. I’m from California’s central valley, in a town you’ve probably haven’t heard of. I hope you enjoy my trips to the movies. I also encourage comments and discussion. I don’t mind if you all disagree with me. That’s fine. I do hope we all can be respectful while doing so, however.
That’s it for me. I believe I’ll be back tomorrow discussing my first 3D movie experience. Thank you for stopping by.
